Modus Group joined UN Global Compact initiative

Modus Group became a member of the United Nations (UN) Global Compact, the largest voluntary corporate sustainability initiative in the world. By joining the initiative Modus Group commits to support and implement the Ten Principles of the UN Global Compact on human rights, labor, environment and anti-corruption and advance the broader development of the UN goals.

“Sustainability is one of the cornerstones in Modus Group long-term vision. In our daily operations we seek to create cleaner environment and ensure well-being of today’s and future generations. By joining the Global Compact initiative, we are committing to further strengthen our corporate responsibility within group companies in all markets,” says Liudas Liutkevičius, Chairman of the board of Modus Group.

In 2018, Modus Group companies’ investments in various fields of activity in Lithuania and markets abroad amounted to more than EUR 64 million. The biggest share of the investments – EUR 50 million – was directed to renewable energy projects, while EUR 10 million were assigned to the development of businesses related to mobility services.

By investing in future businesses like renewable energy and next-generation mobility services the company is not only ensuring healthy business growth but also contributing to the cleaner environment and well-being of society.

In 2019, Green Genius, a renewable energy (solar and biogas) company, generated around 163 GWh of clean energy.

Because of shared mobility services provided by CityBee, during 2019 there were 15 thousand fewer cars in the streets and parking lots since one shared car replaces 12 privately owned ones. While reducing urban congestion, CityBee mobility solutions also contributed to CO2 savings. The environment was protected from 5728 tons of CO2.

The UN Global Compact is the largest non-binding corporate responsibility initiative encouraging businesses to adopt sustainable and socially responsible policies and report their progress. Currently, more than 12 thousand companies, non-governmental organizations and academic institutions from over 160 countries are taking part in the initiative.
